Starting today, 2 June, UNESCO is organizing a three-week international discussion forum for participants in the 2009 World Conference on Higher Education (WCHE 2009). The Forum aims to raise awareness and promote informed discussion of Higher Education issues so as to generate positive input into the Conference.
A different theme will be highlighted each week; Internationalism, Regionalism and Globalization; Equity, Access and Quality and Learning, Research and Innovation.
The over-arching theme will be how Higher Education and research are responding to the global economic crisis.
High-level officials will be discussants for the specific themes. Experts in each area will present discussion messages and a moderator will monitor the debates and sum up the key points.
At the end of June, the Forum will break and summarize its findings for presentation during WCHE 2009. It will resume after the Conference so as to engage in a broader exploration of the issues raised.
Invitees to WCHE 2009 have been automatically registered on the online forum.
